Chiropractor

Dr. William A. Jones has been in chiropractic practice for over 20 years. He has practiced in the Columbia area for the past 15 years. Dr. Jones obtained his undergraduate degree in Iowa and received his chiropractic degree from Life Chiropractic College in Atlanta. He furthered his education and research studies in South Korea as well as Africa. He also worked with the 1998 Olympic athletes during the Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea.

Dr. Jones` belief in total body health and wellness began at a very early age. He has chosen to follow in the footsteps of his late Father, Dr. K.R. Jones, in providing each individual he encountered with the choice of natural healing. He also has two brothers and a sister who are practicing Chiropractors. Through his family`s dedication to chiropractic care, many individuals have experienced a unique natural approach to improve their overall health so they can improve the conditions in their own lives and the world around them.

Dr. R. Dean McCaughan

Chiropractor

Dr. Dean McCaughan joined the Midlands Health Center team in 2004. He earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic, the founding chiropractic college, in Davenport, IA. He graduated in 2001 and practiced in Davenport for two years. In 2007, Dr. McCaughan completed additional course study to become a Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner. Dr. McCaughan has adjusted patients across the entire age spectrum, from a five-day-old child to a 94-year-old farmer who credits chiropractic with allowing him to continue to work his crops.

Dr. McCaughan has also participated in two trips abroad. While still a student, Dr. McCaughan joined a group of 33 chiropractors and students who provided chiropractic care for nearly 10,000 patients in Nepal (photo above with two Scouts who helped translate). In the summer of 2003, Dr. McCaughan helped supervise another group of 30 chiropractic students as they provided care for 6,000 patients in Fiji.

Originally born in North Carolina, Dr. McCaughan has lived in New Orleans, New Jersey, Memphis, Knoxville, TN, Virginia and Iowa. He and his wife are happy to be back in the South and to be making a home in Columbia.

Kiran Sandrapaty, MD
Physiatrist

Dr. Kiran Sandrapaty was born and raised in Orangeburg, SC and is happy to return to the Midlands. After earning his undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina he received his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He then continued his education and training, specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation at SUNY Stony Brook University Hospital.

Dr. Sandrapaty joined the team at Midlands Health Center in September 2006.

The specialty of Physiatry has allowed Dr. Sandrapaty to focus his skills in:

  • EMG and nerve conduction studies to evaluate carpal tunnel syndrome,  cubital tunnel syndrome, tarsal tunnel syndrome, cervical radiculopathy, lumbar radiculopathy, and peripheral neuropathy.
  • Trigger point injections for spasms of the neck and back muscles
  • Joint injections, including steroid (cortisone) and Supartz for arthritis
  • Botox injections for paraspinal muscle spasm and spasticity management
  • Comprehensive musculoskeletal examination, diagnosis and treatment including rehabilitation and therapy prescription for occupational and  physical therapy for the management of neck, back and joint pain.
